Is national trade certificate equivalent to degree?

National Trade Certificate (NTC) is not equivalent to a degree. NTC is a vocational qualification offered by the Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. It is a two-year diploma course which imparts vocational skills in various trades to candidates who have passed Class 10 or equivalent.

On the other hand, a degree is an academic qualification awarded by a university or an institute of higher education upon the successful completion of a course of study that typically lasts for three or more years. It involves advanced academic learning and may cover general or specialized subjects.

While NTC is recognised for employment purposes in specific vocational fields, it does not provide the same level of academic knowledge and skills as a degree. NTC holders may not be eligible for higher education or certain career opportunities that require a degree. To pursue higher education or access wider career opportunities, individuals may need to obtain a degree or pursue further studies.
