Headquartered in Hoboken, New Jersey, the Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy has 11 campuses in the United States as of January 2011. Three of them are in Illinois, in Chicago, Crystal Lake and Woodridge. Upon completion of 56 quarter credit hours within 12 to 15 months, students receive a diploma in Professional Massage Therapy. The school offers training for dental assistants, medical assistants and patient care technicians. Each program can be completed in as little as seven months.
International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT), is located in Chicago. It offers associate and bachelor's degrees for those interested in the visual communications industry. Specializations include multimedia and web design, graphic design, animation production and advertising communications. Additionally, there are degree programs for other subject areas such as information technology, computer forensics, fashion merchandising and interior design.
Based in Des Plaines, the New Age Spa Institute was established for training massage therapists, as well as estheticians -- professionals who specialize in skin care. Aspiring massage therapists learn techniques such as massage therapy history, reflexology, lymphatic drainage and aromatherapy. Esthetician subject areas include makeup, chemical peeling, microdermabrasion (mechanical method for rejuvenating the face), anti-aging with light-emitting diodes and laser-based hair removal. Students receive a diploma upon graduation.
