Vocational Schools for Accounting

A vocational school is a post-secondary school that provides a student with the training and education necessary to have a trade or "vocation." Vocational schools offer a certificate, diploma or associate degree in accounting or bookkeeping that allows the student to begin an entry level career in accounting or bookkeeping. Vocational schools include career colleges, business colleges and junior colleges.

Students may also learn the payroll process and how to perform month end close.

    • Accounting programs offered at vocational schools require less time to complete than four or five year bachelor's degree programs offered at universities. Associate programs typically require 18 to 24 months, while certificates in accounting range between nine months to one year.
