This area of the United States is home to 10 schools for dentistry. Only one option for education in dentistry is available in both Connecticut and New Jersey, the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, respectively. Massachusetts is home to three schools of dentistry, Boston University School of Dental Medicine, Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. New York is home to five: Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center School of Dental and Oral Surgery, New York University College of Dentistry, School of Dental Medicine at SUNY at Stony Brook, University at Buffalo School of Dentistry and University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Almost every southern state has at least one school of dentistry for prospective students to consider. The University of Florida College of Dentistry, the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry and the University of Alabama School of Dentistry make up the nation's southernmost schools for dentistry. Moving north, prospective students of dentistry can consider attending the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry, the Meharry College of Dentistry in Tennessee or one of two schools in Kentucky: the University of Kentucky School of Dentistry and University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Each of the Carolinas is home to one school of dentistry, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry and Medical University of South Carolina, respectively.
The Midwest portion of the United States offers prospective dentists the largest number of schooling options. Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania each offers one school of dentistry, the University of Colorado, School of Dentistry, the University of Illinois School of Dentistry, Indiana University School of Dentistry and University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, University of Oklahoma School of Dentistry and University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry, respectively. Two are located in Nebraska, the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Creighton University School of Dentistry. Ohio also has two options, Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry and The Ohio State University School of Dentistry. Texas is home to three: Baylor College of Dentistry, the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and the University of Texas-Houston Dental Branch.
Just six schools for dentistry are located in this region. One of them is the University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle. The five others are in California: the UCLA School of Dentistry, the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry, the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry and the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.
