    • Students interested in nursing will find plenty of options in Westchester County.

      Located in Yonkers, this is the oldest nursing school in Westchester County. More than 2,000 nurses have graduated from the Cochran School of Nursing. It offers a two-year program designed to lead to an associate degree in applied science and to prepare students for licensure as registered professional nurses (RN's). Cochran is the only school in Westchester County that has a human patient simulator - - a six-foot, life-size computerized human simulator to practice appropriate clinical care procedures and treatments on.

    Dorothea Hopfer School of Nursing

    • This private school located in Mount Vernon offers a hospital-based registered nursing program and a two-year associate degree in nursing (ADN). For those individuals wishing to earn a bachelor's of science in nursing (BSN), matriculation options have been established with the College of New Rochelle, Dominican College and Mercy College. A leading institution for nursing eduction for more than 100 years, the school became affiliated in 1997 with Mount Vernon Hospital, Sound Shore Medical Center and Schaffer Extended Care Center creating one of the largest private health care systems between New York City and Albany -- the Sound Shore Health System.

    Lienhard School of Nursing

    • Part of Pace University, the Lienhard School of Nursing is located on two campuses, one in Pleasantville and one in New York City. The school offers several comprehensive degree programs including a four-year bachelor's of science in nursing (BSN), a master's of science/family nurse practitioner (FNP), master's of arts (MA) in nursing education (NE), and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). According to "U.S. News & World Report"'s "Survey of America's Best Graduate Schools" in 2008, the school ranked number 63 out of 448 programs.

    Southern Westchester BOCES and Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES

    • Both of these locations are part of the Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in New York and offer two-year degree practical programs for nursing. The Southern Westchester location has approximately 144 students, while the smaller Putnam/Northern Westchester location has 91 students.
