The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences (CRAS) in Tempe, Arizona, is a state-of-the-art audio recording, engineering, and production school that provides students with the extensive training needed to become a successful sound engineer. The CRAS Master Recording Program II (MRPII) covers everything from the basic principles of sound to the most intricate techniques of audio engineering. MRPII includes hands-on instruction using top-of-the-line digital sound equipment, guest lectures, round-the-clock access to CRAS sound studios, placed internships, and much more. In addition, each student receives an Apple MacBook laptop containing expert sound engineering programs such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, MainStage, and SoundtrackPro. With only 12 students per class and new sound classes starting every three weeks, the Conservatory estimates that a motivated student can finish school, complete an internship, and become employed within one year. The Alpha Pacific Institute (API) in Phoenix, Arizona is a state-of-the-art radio broadcasting and sound production and engineering school that specializes in providing students with accelerated hands-on training in a live "on air" atmosphere. Along with traditional classroom training, sound engineering and production students are given the opportunity to produce and coordinate live shows at API's PACIFIC106 radio station. API's sound program is just four months long with new and additional classes offered year-round to educate returning students on the industry's newest technology. Nova Music Productions in Tucson, Arizona, is a full-service audio production and live sound facility that offers personalized classes and workshops in sound engineering at one of Tucson's Pima Community College locations. Classes are held one evening per week for three to four weeks and registration is under $100. Students can attend Studio Recording Workshop, Live Sound, and Maximum MIDI. Instructors are professional audio engineers and class content is geared toward amateur and local sound engineers as well as musicians who want to step up their knowledge of live sound recording and production. Students should note that classes scheduled at Pima College may cancel if enrollment is small. Advanced private instruction is also available onsite at the Nova Music Productions facility.
