Established in 1980, the Houston School of Floral Design carries the approval of the Texas Workforce Commission. The school offers six courses for would-be florists: arranging, wedding sessions, shop management and sympathy arranging, advanced arranging, weddings and event planning. Students sign up for each course individually and receive a certificate of completion for each program. The school's scheduling allows students to take classes one at a time or concurrently. Morning, afternoon and evening classes are available, and each session lasts about two and one-half hours. Each program requires four class sessions to complete. New classes begin each month, and enrollment is first-come, first-serve.
