Medical Esthetician Schools in Virginia

Medical estheticians work in the field of esthetic therapy providing state-of-the-art skincare and hair-care assistance to people. Professionals can practice in any of several medical settings, including a dermatology office, a hospital, a plastic surgery practice or an oncology facility. All prospective medical estheticians aiming to practice in the United States, including Virgina, must complete cosmetology and esthetician training courses at a recognized institution and pass a state-administered esthetician license examination.

    Miller-Motte Technical College

    • Miller-Motte Technical College offers a certificate program in esthetic technology at its Lynchburg campus. Courses aim to provide students with the basic skills necessary to secure an entry-level position in the esthetics profession and to sit for the State Board licensing examination. Courses address topics such as professional development, bacteriology, sanitation and disinfection, skin structure, diseases and disorders, facials, aromatherapy, body treatments, microdermabrasion, various phases of esthetics technology, business/computer principles, and product knowledge.

    Esthetic Institute Educational Center

    • The Esthetic Institute Educational Center, founded in 1992, is located in Vienna in northern Virginia. The center, licensed by the State Council for Higher Education of Virginia, offers 600-hour and 150-hour programs in Master Esthetics and Medical Esthetics, respectively.
