The Art Institute of Seattle offers aspiring chefs programs with names like Baking and Pastry, Culinary Arts and the Art of Cooking. Graduates can earn a Bachelor of Science degree, one of two associate degrees or a diploma. Faculty in the Culinary Arts department have advanced degrees from across the United States and Europe. Coursework in the Baking and Pastry program focuses on the art and preparation of breads and desserts. The program, which leads to an Associate of Applied Arts degree, consists of seven quarters, each 11 weeks. An associate degree in Culinary Arts requires 108 quarter credits of study, which includes fine cuisine, nutrition, kitchen management and restaurant procedures. The institute's classes are held in the school's professional kitchens, while campus restaurant provides hands-on experience. The Art Institute of Seattle is located downtown, one block east of the water and five blocks from the city's famous Pike Place Market.

Le Cordon Bleu's Patisserie and Baking Program combines modern techniques with more than 100 years of culinary expertise. The program offers courses in artisan bread production, creation and design of sugar showpieces, classic European pastries and wedding cake styles. A diverse faculty of chef-instructors encourages students to develop an individual baking style, while they learn the basic professional techniques. Students who successfully complete the program earn a Certificate in Le Cordon Bleu Patisserie and Baking and are qualified for entry-level positions in the restaurant industry. Le Cordon Bleu's campus is located in Tukwila, 13 miles south of downtown Seattle just east of the SeaTac Airport.

Students in Lake Washington Technical College's Baking Arts program learn baking techniques, while they're taught critical thinking, teamwork, communication and information literacy for use beyond the kitchen. The two-year program includes classes like Centerpiece Construction, Artisan Breads, Beverage Management and Restaurant Fundamentals. Once students earn their Baking Arts degree, they're eligible for certification by the American Culinary Federation. Grads typically work in professional pastry kitchens or bake shops.
