Culinary schools that offer bachelor's degrees prepare students to work as chefs or in restaurant-management positions while giving them academic credentials.     • The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) has campuses in California, Texas, and New York. The school offers a bachelor of professional studies (B.P.S.) degree, which can be completed in 38 months. The program is designed to train students who want to pursue supervisory careers in the culinary field.

      Students in the B.P.S. program take courses in areas such as interpersonal communication, nutrition, wine studies, financial management, foreign cuisines, and marketing. In addition to classroom instruction, students complete a paid externship at a business so that they can receive hands-on training.

    New England Culinary Institute

    • The New England Culinary Institute (NECI) offers bachelor's degrees in culinary arts, and hospitality and restaurant management. Both of these programs have three areas of specialization: baking and pastry, sustainability, and wine and beverage. In the baking and pastry concentration, students learn about kitchen management, menu development, desserts from around the world, and decorative arts. The sustainability program teaches students how to apply environmental consciousness to the culinary field. The wine and beverage concentration teaches students about the wine-making process, different styles of wine, and how to match wine with different kinds of cuisine. Students in the bachelors program at NECI also complete an internship that is related to their area of specialization.

    Drexel University

    • Drexel University grants bachelor's degrees in culinary arts, which is designed for students who plan to work in the hospitality industry. Students in this program can minor in entrepreneurship, business administration, and marketing. Those who focus on entrepreneurship study entrepreneurial law, technology management, organizational behavior, and financial accounting. The business administration minor focuses on business law, organizational behavior, and management information systems. Students in the marketing minor study areas such as consumer behavior, global marketing, branding, and reputation management.

      Drexel University's Bachelor's degree program takes four years to complete. Students can take full-time day or evening classes, or study on a part-time basis. The program also give students the opportunity to study abroad.
