The zoo science program is a specialization option for those earning a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary sciences. It places an emphasis on the biological sciences with coursework such as marine mammalogy, animal behavior and marine vertebrate zoology. The maritime studies program provides a background in UWF is also one of the only schools in the country that offers undergraduate degrees in marine biology. Facilities include the university's Marine Services Center (MSC) and the Marine Research Facility (MRF). Students have the opportunity to complete field courses with trips to the Florida Keys, Costa Rica, Honduras and Indonesia to study plant and animal life.
