Alabama’s Auburn University offers an undergraduate botany and zoology major, as well as a major in marine biology. Graduate programs include in-depth research and studies into invertebrate ecology, biology of endangered species, ecology and mammalogy. Troy University, located in Troy, Alabama, offers a variety of marine biology and zoology courses for both undergraduate and graduate students, including studies of marine invertebrate and vertebrate zoology, marine ecology, marine botany, animal behavior, mammalogy and oceanography.
The University of Hawaii’s undergraduate and graduate zoology program emphasizes tropical marine biology. Classes cover all aspects of marine life biology, such as marine mammals, fisheries, aquaculture and coral reefs. The Department of Biology at California State University Northridge offers a bachelor’s degree in biology with a marine biology option. Students interested in zoology and marine biology select specialized courses including vertebrate and invertebrate zoology, animal behavior, herpetology and biology of tropical vertebrates. San Francisco State University’s biology program offers a zoology concentration as well as marine biology courses. Classes include biological oceanography, marine ecology and marine invertebrate zoology.

Students also complete field experience in aquatic biology. Northwest Missouri State University has undergraduate degree programs in pre-professional zoology and marine biology. Available classes include general zoology, immunology, vertebrate histology, invertebrate zoology and oceanography.
