Edmonton's Canadian College of Emergency Medical Services was established in 1996 with an educational focus on the training and development of emergency medical technicians and emergency medical responders. The college offers additional coursework in emergency pediatric care, oxygen therapy and prehospital trauma life support. These classes provide a larger skill set for emergency technicians and other first responders, which makes them more valuable to hospitals and emergency medical centers.
