Programs for a Radiology Technician in Alabama

Wallace Community College

• The radiologic technology program at Wallace Community College confers an Associate in Applied Science degree at the end of the two-year program. The program admits students in the fall only. To apply to the program, applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school degree or GED with a minimum 2.5 GPA and submit COMPASS entrance exam scores. The program ranks applications based on scores for each requirement and admits students based on this ranking only. Once admitted, students must obtain CPR certification, submit immunization and tuberculosis records and submit to a criminal background check and drug test.

Gadsden State Community College

• To apply to the radiologic technology program at Gadsden State Community College, applicants must first attend a mandatory information session. Admission requirements include a high school diploma or GED with a minimum 2.50 GPA, COMPASS entrance exam scores and placement into college-level English composition, math and biology. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Accepted students matriculate in the fall, complete the program in two years, including one summer semester, and receive an associate degree.

University of South Alabama

• Students in the University of South Alabama radiologic sciences program can choose to obtain a certificate or bachelor's degree in radiologic technology and science. Students complete the certificate program in 24 months and then complete an additional four semesters to obtain a bachelor’s degree if desired. Applications are due May 1 for matriculation in the fall of the same year. Admission requirements include ACT or SAT scores, three references, a minimum of four hours of observation in a hospital radiology department, a personal statement and an interview if requested. Once accepted, students must submit to a criminal background check and drug screening and provide proof of medical insurance.
