    • The Society of Human Resources Management, or SHRM, of Atlanta offers certification courses for the PHR or SPHR exam. These exams are HR knowledge tests that determine the student's ability and comprehension in the field. The course covers material based on the Human Resources Certification Institute body of knowledge, which awards the certificates upon passing the test. The course also includes real-life scenarios and concepts that students will work through to explore different solutions.

      The course is 11 weeks long, and takes place each Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m at the Dale Carnegie of Georgia in Alpharetta. Pricing is $1,200 for SHRM members and $1,300 for non-members.

    Gwinnett Technical College

    • Interested students can obtain a certificate as a human resources management specialist at Gwinnett Technical College. This program is for entry-level students in the field and covers the basics of the philosophy, policies, procedures, and practices relating to the management of people in a work organization, including personnel planning, work design, staffing, training, performance appraisal, compensation, and employee protection.

      Students can complete the program in a minimum of three quarters; however, course credit can be applied to the degree or diploma program in business management and the degree program in management and supervisory development technical specialist.

    Georgia State University

    • The Georgia State University department of managerial services offers a B.B.A. in managerial services, but students can choose to take the human resources management track. On this track students take classes geared more toward managing human resources, such as selection, compensation, and legal environment of human resources management. This is a four-year program in which 21 credit hours are in the management field.
