CNC is an acronym for computer numerical control. It refers to the computerized functioning of machines to perform a range of manufacturing tasks, such as drilling, cutting and forming the various components of physical products, including automobile and computer parts.     • Oakton Community College offers two CNC training programs. The certificate in CNC and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) programming consists of coursework in introductory CNC, advanced CNC programming and CAM. The CNC operations and programming preparation certificate is comprised of three courses: CNC operation and setup, introductory CNC and advanced CNC programming.     • The BIR Training Center offers several training certificates in manufacturing technology. The comprehensive CNC certificate is 12 months in duration. Course topics include technical math, drafting, quality control, tooling, keyboarding, CAM technology, operational techniques and procedures, coding, software applications and production processes.
