WyoTech is a private trade school originally founded Laramie, Wyoming, that has grown to have six campuses across the United States. The school offers its marine technology certificate program at its Daytona campus in Ormond Beach, Florida. Students in the program receive training with vessel power transmissions, inboard and outboard engine propulsion systems, diesel engines, power generation systems and marine electronics. Students then specialize in either advanced diesel and power generation or off-road power, which incorporates training in the repair of other small-engine propelled vehicles like snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles. The school offers courses during morning, afternoon and evening hours. Commonly called MMI, the Marine Mechanics Institute is in Orlando, Florida. The school offers a 51-week marine mechanic certificate program, which covers the repair and maintenance of outboard, stern drive, two- and four-stroke and diesel marine engines. Other topics covered in the program are fuel and electrical systems, hulls and boat trim. Students also receive manufacturers' training from a variety of boat makers, including Honda, Suzuki, Volvo Penta, Yamaha and MercTech. Classes start every three weeks and are held primarily during daytime hours. A limited number of internships are available for students. Qualified students are eligible for federal financial aid, veteran's benefits and institutional scholarships. The college offers free job placement assistance.

The New England Institute of Technology is a private vocational school in Warwick, Rhode Island. The college offers an associate of science degree in marine technology. The program requires 18 months to complete with the option to study during the day or in the evening and classes start four times per year.
