Technical schools perform a specific educational function: they allow students to concentrate their attention on one area. The focus is usually in science and technology, although a chef's cooking school could also qualify as a technical school. The time frame is quick--usually no more than one year. At the end of schooling, students are job-ready and get a certificate or a license from the state verifying their technical knowledge.

    • Moore Career College specializes in massage therapy. The college's program offers specific massage techniques, including Swedish massage, deep-tissue massage, neuromuscular therapy, sports massage and basic shiatsu. There are day and night classes available. Training can last between nine and 15 months. The program prepares students for entry-level positions in the field.

    • Remington College offers programs in medical assisting, pharmacy technician, medical billing and coding, cosmetology, computer and network administration, criminal justice and business office management. Class size is 25 students or less. Students can complete the programs in less than a year. The college also offers associate and bachelor's degree programs in an online environment.

    Diesel Driving Academy

    • Diesel Driving Academy offers students the opportunity to learn how to drive tandem axle tractors and trailers. The program teaches students about blindside parking, docking, offset alleys, parallel parking, cornering and other maneuvering techniques. Students also receive instructions on basic hookup, preventative maintenance,and pre-trip inspection. Classroom instruction covers standards and regulations, qualifications, logging and ICC Safety Regulations. Career and job placement services are also available at the academy.
