Much of the teaching at the business school is through case work. Cases included in the curriculum include strategic direction in the alternative fuels industry.

MIT's Sloan School of Management runs a Sustainable Business Lab. The S-lab offers opportunities for practical work with companies confronting environmental challenges. The school aims for a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to teaching sustainability issues. The lab has worked with companies such as Disney, Nike, Green Fuel Technologies and Good Energies.

Clark University, in Worcester, offers a dual MBA/MA in Environmental Science and Policy. Included in the course is preparation for careers in renewable energy systems and sustainable technology businesses, as well as environmental consulting. Parts of the course focus on climate and energy policy analysis, energy technology innovation and renewable energy technologies.
