University Student Code of Conduct

In order to function effectively, schools must establish guidelines that plainly define rights and obligations appropriate to all university communities. Universities strongly support the right of each student to work and study in a serene, respectful, nonviolent atmosphere conducive to the pursuit of knowledge.
  1. Honesty

    • To maintain the free flow of ideas and preserve academic integrity, students must acknowledge and stand by their work, abstaining from making misdirecting or false statements. Any form of academic dishonesty related to a student's status or performance is considered fraud.

    Safety

    • University community members are entitled to freedom from suffering and deliberate anguish. The university is responsible for providing a non-hostile, nonthreatening atmosphere in which to report physical abuse, brawling, harassment, hazing, assault and other antagonisms.

    Violation of Rights

    • Any deliberate violation of a university student's rights or intentional failure to abide by proper procedures is a direct infringement of the code of conduct. Sanctions relate to the character of the offense, including disciplinary warning, work assignments, administrative fines, restitution, room transfer, probation, suspension and expulsion.
