How to Obtain a FAFSA Form

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA is required to apply for federal student aid such as grants, scholarships, work-study programs and loans. Most colleges, universities and private scholarship foundations also require the FAFSA to determine eligibility for financial benefits. While the majority of applicants fill out the FAFSA form online, you can obtain a paper version.

  Call 800-433-3242 to request a FAFSA form be mailed to you. Forms are typically available in November for the upcoming school year. You should receive it within three weeks.

  Visit the Federal Student Aid website and download the version of the FAFSA form you need. Forms are available in English and Spanish.
- 3
  Check with your high school guidance counselor. Many schools keep the forms on hand for students who need one.
