How to Link FAFSA With TAP

Financing your college education is often out of reach without the assistance of scholarships and student loans. No matter whether you attend a public or private school, you are likely to be required to bear the cost of attending the institution. You must pay for classes, books, housing and other incidental expenses. New York students can apply for both federal and state aid. Federal aid is awarded through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). State aid is awarded through New York's Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). To link the two, you must first apply for federal aid through FAFSA and then apply for state aid through TAP.
