The program is structured on a stewardship model and coursework is normally completed within three to five years. Applicants should possess a Master's degree in special education, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a combined GRE score of 1000. Additionally, a member of the University's School of Special Education faculty must recommend applicants for the program.

    University of Maryland

    • The University of Maryland offers a PhD program in Special Education, which is appropriate for those who are interested in pursuing a research career or those who are interested in the creation and implementation of policy at the state and local levels. Applicants must possess a Master's degree or equivalent course work in special education, a 3.5 GPA or higher and a combined score of 1580 on their GRE.     Kent State University

    • Kent State University's doctoral program in Special Education is suited to individuals who plan to pursue careers as special education teachers or researchers.
