North Carolina PhD Programs

Eight universities in North Carolina offer Ph.D. programs in a variety of fields. Students interested in pursuing doctoral study in the Tar Heel State will find degrees available in such wide-ranging disciplines as "Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies" and "Technical and Professional Discourse".

    • Duke University offers 47 Ph.D. degree programs in fields ranging from biochemistry to statistical science. Duke also has a dual M.D./Ph.D. program with the Duke School of Medicine, a dual J.D./Ph.D. with the School of Law and a joint Ph.D. program in German studies with the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
