Located in southern Florida, Nova Southeastern University offers four doctorate programs for physical therapy. The entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy is designed to be completed in five years within a part-time curriculum. It combines case-based interactive learning, traditional instruction and 40 weeks of clinical lab practice. Hands-on experience in direct patient-care settings is held within local health-care facilities, particularly working with under-served populations. Applicants to this program should have completed a bachelor's degree.

The clinical doctorate program at Ithaca College in New York is structured to be completed in six years for freshman entering the program, but for students transferring into the program with appropriate AP credits, the program can be completed in 5 years. Students receive their undergraduate and graduate degree from the program. They are encouraged to participate in clubs or organizations on campus and volunteer work off campus. The program provides clinical opportunities within elective courses on campus with faculty members in addition to the Longview Senior Citizens Home across from the campus. Ithaca is affiliated with more than 1,100 other clinical facilities throughout the nation.

Located in Pennsylvania, Drexel University's College of Nursing and Health Professions provides students with the opportunity to earn a bachelor's degree in health sciences and a doctorate in physical therapy in 5 1/2 years. The program is an accelerated dual-degree program entitled "Pathway to Health Professions" and is offered to freshmen. The curriculum combines a foundation in the sciences, evidence-based research and practice, and professional practice. Students gain clinical experience within a network of over 500 affiliated sites across the country in the areas of pediatric, musculoskeletal or adult neuromuscular. They are required to maintain a 3.33 GPA during the undergraduate portion and complete a 16-week clinical internship during the Ph.D. portion.
