One Year MBA Programs

Traditionally, MBA programs consist of two years of full-time studies, but the trend has been changing as more and more schools are offering one-year programs. One-year MBA programs are intensive programs suitable for students who don't want to attend a longer program because of work or familial responsibilities or because of age issues.

Generally, Europe leads the MBA rankings in one-year intensive MBA programs with top-notch schools, according to the "Financial Times" 2010 Global MBA rankings, but the United States has some one-year MBA programs offered by schools that rank highly as well.

One session starts in January while the other starts in September. MBA programs starting in the January session are 12 months long and include an internship for two months during the summer.

MBA programs starting in September are 10 months long and don't include an internship. As internships are important for changing careers, applicants who intend to change their careers after their MBA should consider applying for the program starting in January.
