The Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology in Boston maintains a student graduation rate of 90 percent, as compared to the national average of 50 percent. The school is also known for its diverse student body and its Latino Mental Health Concentration Program, which is the only one like it in North America. MSPP offers two Psy.D. degree programs, one in clinical psychology and the other in school psychology. The Psy.D program in clinical psychology is typically offered as a four-year, full-time program; however, students may enroll part-time. The part-time option must be completed in seven years, and students are required to complete two semesters of clinical seminars and two semesters of a practicum, or internship.

As one of the oldest and largest graduate schools in the nation exclusively offering psychology degrees, the Chicago School of Professional Psychology was founded by practicing psychologists focused on providing training for psychologists in nonprofit settings. The school offers five Psy.D. programs in clinical psychology (with seven track options), marital and family therapy, applied behavior analysis, business psychology (industrial/organizational or consulting) and clinical forensic psychology. The applied behavior analysis program is offered on a five-year, part-time basis at the Chicago and Los Angeles locations.

Antioch University in Seattle, Washington, was founded in 1975, with the first programs in psychology and liberal arts. The university maintains a focus on community activism with campuses in California, New Hampshire and Ohio. Antioch offers the Psy.D. in clinical psychology with five concentration options in adult psychotherapy, child psychology, art therapy, forensic psychology and health psychology. Students may complete this degree part-time or full-time. Part-time students enroll in two courses per semester, a two-year internship and a practicum integrated throughout the program. The degree consists of 150 credits and is designed for students who have earned master's degrees in mental health; however, it is not required for entrance into the program.
