The Art Institute of Boston offers two different scholarships during its summer session: a pre-college program and the Young Artist Residency program. The tuition-only scholarship covers the cost of tuition minus registration and material fees for a limited number of students taking courses for credit (which include both programs). The student must show financial need.
The Young Artist Scholarship Program pays for a small number of students with significant financial need and demonstrated talent. Awards cover all tuition, fees and an hourly stipend. The application process requires completion of an application, parents' tax returns, a teacher recommendation and a sample of the student's work.
Both scholarships can be applied to either the pre-college summer session, which is a three-week program with courses ending in a student exhibition, or the residency, available to a student entering her junior or senior year. The accepted student may enroll full time in summer session courses, reside in on-campus housing and take part in local weekend and evening activities. Meals and local transportation are included, and the student earns six college credits.

The Memphis College of Art offers full and partial scholarships for its various summer art camps for children ages 5 to 16. The application process requires submission of three works of art (a still life, portrait and landscape), a letter of interest from the child explaining why he would benefit from the program, a letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor or youth leader, all summer camp registration forms, and a large self-addressed envelope. If a student is awarded a partial scholarship, the remainder of the tuition is due at the time of scholarship acceptance. Scholarship winners must accept the award at least 10 days before the start of the camp session.
The college offers a variety of camps to which a recipient can apply his scholarship, though he must apply for a specific camp when applying for the scholarship. The student can choose from full-day camps for ages 5 to 16 with age-appropriate courses in drawing, sculpture, painting, printmaking and other arts. The college also offers a half-day session, two-week studio intensives in filmmaking and advanced drawing for students 14 and up, and several week-long two-hour sessions for younger children. A summer academy for juniors and seniors is also available.
