Scholarships for Fine Art

A variety of scholarships are available to students who wish to pursue studies in the fine arts at the college level. A high school senior may be eligible for scholarships through his school. Art competitions often provide scholarships to both high school and college students. Most states offer state-specific scholarships. The art department at your local university or community college is another rich source of assistance.
  1. Fine Art Finals Scholarship Competition: Illinois

    • The Fine Art Finals Scholarship Competition awards scholarship assistance to art students at both the high school and the collegiate level. The high school competition awards $500 for first place, $250 for second and $150 for third. The annual deadline for entry is May 28. Students must attend a public or private high school in the state of Illinois in order to be eligible. At the collegiate level, $1200 is awarded for first prize, $600 for second and $300 for third. Any student at the associate's, bachelor's or master's degree level is eligible. Entry deadlines vary by region.     UNM Fine Arts Scholarships

    • The University of New Mexico College of Fine Arts offers a variety of scholarships to attending students. The Charles Edward Brown and Katherine McBride Brown Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1000 every year to one or two art majors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The Ana Chavira Award is given annually in the amount of $500 to a student who is a resident of New Mexico, has a grade point average of at least 3.0, and who excels in more than one area of art.     Larry Mitchelson Fine Arts Scholarships

    • The Larry Mitchelson Scholarship Foundation awards $1000 scholarships annually to seniors graduating from G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, New York. This scholarship is not renewable and is to be used to pay for tuition costs. In order to be eligible, a student must plan to pursue a degree in fine arts at the collegiate level. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and the quality of the applicant's art portfolio.     Scholarships.com Art Scholarship

    • Scholarships.com, a website dedicated to helping students find financial assistance for college, offers an annual $1000 scholarship for students pursuing a degree in any branch of art, including the fine arts.     Alliance for Young Artists and Writers Scholarships

    • The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers offers generous scholarships to American and Canadian high school students who submit their work to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Students who earn a gold medal, portfolio gold medal or portfolio silver medal for their work qualify for scholarships through a number of art schools throughout the United States. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $18,000, depending on the level of student achievement and the participating institution. Some institutions even offer full tuition for a number of years to Scholastic Art & Writing Awards winners. Guidelines and deadlines vary by region.
