The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a federally funded agency, distributes housing grants to qualifying individuals. Single mothers in Missouri who qualify may benefit from these grants. Funds can be used to offset the cost of rental housing through monthly disbursements, also called vouchers, or toward the down payment of a home or for necessary repairs to the applicant's residence. In order to qualify for grants through HUD, applicants must not exceed income requirements determined by state and federal agencies. Interested applicants may apply directly through their local Missouri HUD office to see whether they qualify.
