How to File More Than 10 Colleges to the FAFSA

With college tuition rising every year, more and more students find themselves in the position of needing financial assistance to pay for school. The Federal Application for Student Aid is an application to the government to see if you qualify for grants, loans or other forms of financial aid. If you want to receive federal aid for school, you must file a FAFSA, even if you think you may not qualify. FAFSA generally will release your financial information to a maximum of 10 schools.

Instructions

    • 1

Complete your initial FAFSA application with the first 10 schools to which you wish to have your information disbursed. This should be completed via the Internet, and the application can be found at the FAFSA website, www.fafsa.ed.gov.

    • 2

Confirm with the first 10 schools that they have received your information. Once the schools have confirmed that they have your financial information, log into your FAFSA page once again via the FAFSA website.

    • 3

Remove some of the universities that you listed in your initial Student Aid Report and replace them with the additional colleges where you would like your information sent.
