Collect your personal information. In order to fill out the FAFSA on-line, you must have your driver's license number, your Social Security Number, and financial information, such as bank account information and tax information.
Fill out the "FAFSA on the Web Worksheet." The "FAFSA on the Web Worksheet" contains all of the information that must be submitted on-line, and is used to make the on-line submission process easier for you. The worksheet requires you provide information regarding: your citizenship status, your marital status, your Social Security Number, your driver's license number, whether you have been convicted of drug offenses, whether you have registered for the Selective Services, your parents, your dependency status, and your finances.
Complete the FAFSA application. Using the information that you supplied on the "FAFSA on the Web Worksheet," enter the information into the FAFSA application. The application is guided, and requires you enter certain information at particular steps.
Submit the FAFSA. Once you have completed the FAFSA application on the Internet, you must submit the form. You have two options for signing the FAFSA, you may request a personal identification number, or "PIN," from the Department of Education to sign the form over the Internet, or you may print, sign, and mail a "Signature Page." The PIN can be applied for in the FAFSA application.
