The Medill School of Journalism in Northwestern University in Chicago is often lauded as one of the nation's best journalism grad schools. The school, founded in 1921, offers a Masters of Science in Journalism. The program takes 12 months, and is broken into four quarters, with tuition for each term about $12,000. The masters and doctoral programs at the Missouri School of Journalism have garnered superb reputations. The programs offer "real media" experience, according to the school's Web site, with students learning the trade at a commercial television station and daily community newspaper. The school's masters of arts program takes two years and costs about $500 per credit hour, plus additional fees. The Missouri School of Journalism does not give an estimate about what tuition will cost for the program; however, the course requires at least 37 credit hours.
