Postgraduate Courses in Journalism

Graduate schools for journalism offer courses in every form of information dissemination. Students can study print, online and broadcast journalism, as well as advertising and public relations, and photography and filmmaking. Many of the top schools have highly competitive admissions policies. While students can choose to enter a graduate degree program in journalism straight from college, some schools offer programs for seasoned professionals.

    • Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism offers training to journalism students from all over the world. Graduates are expected to find the truth in complex situations and communicate clearly with the public. The university offers Master of Science and Master of Arts programs as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in Communications program. Required courses for the Master of Science degree are Reporting & Writing 1, a Master's Project, Advanced Reporting & Writing Seminar and a Media Workshop. Students in the Master of Arts program select a major in one of the following areas: arts and culture, health and science, business and economics, or politics.
