LPN/RN Online Programs

Licensed practical nurses (LPN) can pursue registered nursing (RN) education and subsequent licensure through online programs. These programs typically conduct classroom instruction online, while the student is responsible for setting up clinical instruction at local hospitals and other health-care facilities. LPNs have the option of obtaining an associate's or bachelor’s degree and attending school part time or full time.
  1. Hutchinson Community College

    • The LPN to RN online bridge program at Hutchinson Community College confers an associates degree in nursing (ADN) after one year of accelerate learning. All classes are conducted online and students choose 10 to 12 days within set 30-day blocks to complete in-person clinical instruction. Requirements for admission include a current LPN license, anatomy and physiology, English composition, psychology, human growth and development, public speaking, computer literacy, microbiology, pathophysiology, current CPR certification and satisfactory completion of the Test of Essential Academic Skills. The program admits students only once a year in the spring.

    Laramie Community College

    • To apply to the online LPN to RN bridge program at Laramie Community College, students must have a current LPN license with at least one year of LPN experience. Applicants must complete prerequisite courses in English, intermediate math, computer literacy, anatomy and physiology, psychology or anthropology, nutrition and physical education. Applications are due in the fall for matriculation in the spring. The program lasts four semesters and students receive an ADN.

    Indiana State University

    • Students of the online LPN to RN bridge program at Indiana State University receive a bachelor’s of science in nursing degree at completion of the program. To apply, students must have a current Indiana LPN license or geographical equivalent, information technology literacy prerequisite course, a criminal background check, the test of essential academic skills entrance exam and successful challenge of four undergraduate nursing courses. Students can complete web-based instruction on a full-time or part-time basis and attend clinical instruction in their current location through previously organized preceptorships.
