The American Psychological Association is based in Washington, D.C. The organization provides grants for a variety of scientific projects relevant to the field of psychology. The APA Division 15 Award is offered to doctoral candidates for outstanding dissertation research projects. In addition, APA also provides two research and writing awards to qualified students. The Outstanding Dissertation Research Award is offered to candidates who have had their dissertation approved by a doctoral committee. Eligible candidates must be members of APA's division 15. Applicants who attended educational psychology programs at an accredited college or university are eligible to apply. Selected candidates will receive a $500 stipend, a recognition plaque and an invitation to present their research project at the annual APA meeting. Applicants must submit an abstract of their research project along with a personal narrative, and letters of recommendation.

The Hogg Foundation for Mental Health is based in Austin, Texas, and provides various competitive grants to non-profit organizations, universities mental health agencies, as well as state and local government offices. Prospective applicants are advised to review the eligibility criteria for each grant. The foundation offers grants for research and scholarly projects that offer potential benefits to the field of mental health. Projects that are eligible for funding include health services, scholarships, academic research, policy work and public education. The Varner-Bayou Bend Heritage fund seeks proposals that emphasize the significance of identifying early childhood mental health, and is open to professionals who work in education related fields, primary care physicians and day-care providers.

The Institute of Education Sciences is a branch of the U.S. Department of Education, and is dedicated to improving the educational outcomes of all students nationwide, especially students who attend high-needs schools. The institute has a budget of more than $200 million to fund various research projects and educational initiatives. The Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology department at the University of Georgia is an ISE grant recipient. The department received $2.9 million to develop learning models that will help to improve the academic achievement of upper elementary English language learners from high poverty schools.
