Standards for Advanced Programs in Educational Leadership

Standards for advanced programs in educational leadership are set at national and state levels. National standards for this type of program have six standards that allow the candidate to demonstrate competency in six different concepts of educational leadership.
  1. Standard 1 Vision

    • Vision should encompass all students

      The first standard is a measurement of the candidate's ability to promote success for all students in the school or district. This includes the stewardship of a vision of learning for his proposed building assignments. The candidate will have to prove that he knows how to implement and articulate that vision.

    Standard 2 Culture

    • Culture requires a safe environment to learn

      The candidates will have the ability to encourage student success by providing several schools of thought. The candidate should design a professional growth plan for teachers and at the same time promote a positive school culture by creating and implementing an effective instructional program that meets district and state standards.

    Standard 3 Management

    • Management is coordinated for student success

      Candidates must provide a safe and effective learning atmosphere. They will manage resources, operations, and organizational development. All of this is to be coordinated with the ultimate goal of the successful education of the students.

    Standard 4 Collaboration

    • Collaboration between admin and staff is essential

      Candidates will collaborate and respond to community members, families, other community stakeholders. This is to be aligned to the goals of student success. The candidate will also mobilize community resources in time of need and availability.

    Standard 5 Ethics

    • Values, morals, and ethics to be used and taught

      Candidates will act fairly and with integrity in all manners. Ethical behavior is a crucial when reaching the goal of student success. The knowledge and ability to operate in this manner is essential.

    Standard 6 Internship

    • Putting knowledge to work

      The candidate must participate in an internship. This will allow the candidate to use her knowledge and put it into practice. The internship will be guided by an institution or school district personnel
