The University of Cincinnati School of Nursing offers an online Master of Science in Nursing Degrees for Adult Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. Classes are completed over the course of eight quarters, allowing students to complete the degree in two years. During the final three quarters, students must complete 510 clinical and 30 lab hours, completed at the campus and affiliated hospitals. Admission requirements include a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing, RN license, three letters of recommendation and the completion of an undergraduate statistics course.
The Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland offers a Master of Science in Nursing Degrees for Adult Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. The basic program requires at least 39 hours of coursework, completed over three semesters, and 600 hours of clinical work. Each specialty has its own particular requirements for admission as well as coursework. This is a full-time, on-campus program that begins each fall semester.
The Otterbein College Department of Nursing us located in Westerville, Ohio, just to the northeast of Columbus. The College awards a Master of Science in Nursing Degrees for Family Nurse Practitioner. The program consists of both online and traditional classes, for a total of about 57 class hours, along with extensive clinical training. Students arrange the 600 required clinical hours under the supervision of an MD or Nurse Practitioner to meet their own schedule. Due to the mixed online/classroom format of the programs, students have several options for starting the program.
The Ohio State College of Nursing, located in Columbus, Ohio, awards a Master of Science in Nursing Degrees in the areas of Adult Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner. Students begin the program by completing six core MSN courses. They then continue the program with courses that reflect their particular nurse practitioner specialty. Nurses that already hold an MSN Degree may enter the program, skipping the initial classes. Students entering the program must either hold a BSN or a Bachelor's Degree with a Nursing Major.
