The Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) at the University of Oklahoma offers high school students the opportunity to enroll in a four-year scholarship program. Students graduating from the NROTC program will ideally go on to join either the Navy or the Marines. In return, the NROTC pays for the student's full tuition costs, and also certain living expenses while they are studying. The program allows graduates a fast-track route into any number of positions within the U.S navy, offering training, trips to sea and career advice.
The Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) at the University of Oklahoma offers a similar program to that of the navy reserve, and which produces Lieutenants for the U.S Army. The Army ROTC program is the largest single source of scholarship money in the American college system, and 84% of students who join the program at the University of Oklahoma can expect to receive some financial help. It has been in operation since 1919, and produces between 15 and 20 fully qualified graduates every year.
