Marine Military Schools for Boys

Marine military schools provide academic and physical education to boys in a military setting, focusing on teaching responsibility and discipline to students so they achieve success in life. Many marine military schools are private boarding schools. In addition to military training, these schools help in building character and self-esteem as well as developing leadership skills.
  1. Athletics

    • The athletic programs are provided to promote teamwork and physical fitness of boys. Sports such as baseball, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, cross country, football, water polo, golf, swimming, tennis, hockey, surfing, soccer, boxing and track and field games are played in marine military schools. Other activities include band, bicycling, rifle team, sailing, weight lifting, drill team and climbing. The trained professionals aim to provide positive athletic experiences and motivate hard work in cadets.

    Curriculum

    • The curriculum in marine military schools is designed to arm cadets with the academic excellence and intellectual tools to have a successful college experience. The core courses usually include English, mathematics, science, foreign language and social sciences. Marine military schools offer elective courses such as marine science, business computer applications, health, computer science, aerospace, study skills and business computer information systems. Visual and performing art courses, such as band, photography or guitar, are offered for cadets who want to explore their creative abilities.

    Enrollment and Financial Aid

    • Students are selected for marine military schools on the basis of physical, emotional and mental fitness; prior academic record; health; standardized test scores; and discipline history. Several external sources provide loans for financial assistance to students. To become eligible for financial assistance, students need to provide their disciplinary records and their family's financial background.

    Some Marine Military Schools

    • The Marine Military Academy, located in Texas, is a college-preparatory military school, which provides education for boys from eighth to 12th grade. The academy is specifically based on the values, ideals and traditions of United States Marine Corps. The aim of this school is to motivate students to achieve academic excellence and develop into responsible, morally strong and disciplined young men. The Naval Academy Preparatory School is a branch of United States Naval Academy, located in Rhode Island. It is a one year post-secondary school that prepares students morally, mentally and physically for joining the Marine Corps. It offers a ten-month college preparatory course for candidates of regular and reserve Marine Corps. Candidates who do not get accepted for Naval Academy are given admission in this school to prepare them for admission to the Naval Academy. The school provides physical and character development programs to prepare students for the challenges they will encounter at a service academy.
