The college has a reputation as one of the nation's top Christian colleges. It was founded by A.J. Gordon in 1889 and in 2010 was listed in Forbes' America's Best Colleges.
The core curriculum offered are sciences and liberal arts from a Christian perspective such as understanding the social order and creation; interacting with contemporary and historic cultures; and learning how to think critically and constructively. The school offers majors in design, biotechnology and health/medical professions. Tuition costs range from $30,606 to $39,040. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.
Northwestern is a Christian college in the Reformed tradition offering a varied academic curriculum. Programs offered include career concentrations, majors, minors and pre-professional courses. Career concentrations can be added to a list of chosen majors and subjects, including computer science, sport management, criminal justice, Christian theater ministries and fitness management. Northwestern offers opportunities to study abroad for two semesters in a wide range of countries. Full-time tuition costs as of 2011 range from $23,330 to $30,420. Opportunities for financial aid are available for those who qualify.
The college was established in 1984 under the Directorate of Technical Education in Tamil, Nadu. It is a minority institute run by the Christian Education, Health & Development Charitable Society, Ambilikkai and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education
(AICTE). It offers diploma courses in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, computer technology, electronics and communication engineering and information technology. The campus is on 70 acres at the foot of the extension of the Western Ghats. There are railway lines close by and a bus stand for ease of transport. The college has a well-equipped library, laboratories and workshops.
Founded and directed by Aaron and Sarah Beecher, the present vocational training offered by the school was started in 1995 and serves rural Mozambique where there is need for vocational skills by young adults seeking employment. Practical training is incorporated into spiritual renewal and an understanding of the Gospel. The school is a non-profit, independent school operated by Associacao Tariro and registered by Mozambique as Escola Tecnica Crista de Maforga. Courses include carpentry and furniture making, metalwork and welding, automotive and mechanics. There is a program of replanting indigenous hardwood trees with a goal of planting more than 1,000 trees a year. So far, 8,000 trees have been planted.
