Veterinary Assistants Colleges

Veterinary assistants are often the first to greet a hurt or sick animal that comes into the veterinarian's office, or to welcome an animal getting an annual exam. Veterinary assistants perform basic procedures such as first aid, restraint and handling, and may even assist the doctor with animal births or major surgeries. Training to become a veterinary assistance is either through a certificate program at a local school or entirely online. Programs take about a year, and students may then enroll in further education for a degree or seek employment as a vet assistant.
