The University of Pittsburgh's School of Information Sciences offers a master of library science degree through an entirely web-based curriculum. The 36-credit "Fast-Track" program can be completed in two years and requires one visit to the Pittsburgh campus each semester. Students can specialize in medical librarianship/informatics. This program ranked first in 2009 on the U.S. News and World Report list of America's best graduate schools.
In addition, the School of Information Sciences, in partnership with the Health Sciences Library System, offers a 15-credit Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Health Sciences Librarianship, also available online.

Students complete 6 core courses for the degree and then choose electives based in medical informatics. The school's Health Librarianship specialization has been ranked fifth on the U.S. News and World Report list of America's best graduate schools.
