The school offers three types of online flight lessons for those learning to fly, instrument ratings and a refresher course that features 20 hours of written training and 11 interactive flight lessons using the Microsoft Flight Simulator. Course materials include a syllabus, 200-page flight manual and a simulator supplement with charts and instructions. The oral test preparation gets students ready for a private pilot or instrument rating test. It includes videos demonstrating a mock oral exam and real questions used by the FAA. The written test preparation course gives students access to the full database of questions and answers on the FAA examination, video training guides and chapter quizzes to test knowledge.

AviationWise offers an online ground school course that meets the prerequisites outlined in part 61 of the FAA regulations (see Resource). A student receives a certificate of completion that will authorize him to take the FAA written test once he completes the course and earns a score of 80 percent or more on the AviationWise final exam. Online courses offered include private pilot, airplane, rotocraft/helicopter and glider, commercial pilot airplane and rotocraft/helicopter and airplane sport pilot. Students must have a private pilot rating from the FAA in order to enroll in commercial pilot courses. The school recommends students purchase a plotter and an electronic or mechanical E6B flight computer. Class materials include more than 35 online publications and books.

Students may select from online equipment courses in Garmin 530 and instrument proficiency check preparation. Experienced students may take rating add-on courses in multi-engine and seaplane equipment. The school created the watching airplanes course for airplane enthusiasts and serves as an introduction to the aviation system and operations in the United States with seven 30-minute study modules. The online communication course consists of six 50-minute modules that trains students in aviation communication from uncontrolled airports to large, class B airports. The safe-pilot course has 13 30-minute units that teach students about operating safety, avoiding accidents and emergency procedures.
