Online Dietitian Schools

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, dietitians plan nutrition and food programs, supervise the preparation of meals and oversees the way meals are served. Several universities in the country offer online programs that prepare students to become a registered dietitian. Some of these programs are also for those registered dietitians who want to earn an advanced degree in the field.
  1. University of Nebraska-Lincoln

    • The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's online program leads to a Master of Science in nutrition and health sciences with a specialization in dietetics. The program prepares students to work at an advanced level. To apply, you must be a registered dietitian or eligible to take the exam to become one. Students can choose between two tracks, nutrition or management. Course offerings include advanced nutrition, accounting concepts and analysis, entrepreneurship and micronutrients in human nutrition.

    Eastern Michigan University

    • Eastern Michigan University offers an online program in dietetics that leads to a Bachelor of Science. The four-semester program is completely online, except for 1,200 hours of laboratory classes. The program prepares students to become registered dietitians. Courses include nutrition therapy, food systems experience, food and culture, nutrient metabolism and entrepreneurship. Other courses are complementary and alternative medicine and food systems management.

    Kansas State University

    • Kansas State University's online program in dietetics leads to a master's degree. The program is for registered dietitians or those eligible to be registered who want to further their education. All courses are online, but students must register at one of eight participating universities: Kansas State University, Oklahoma State University, University of Kansas Medical Center, University of Nebraska, South Dakota State University, Iowa State University, Colorado State University and North Dakota State University. The entire program can be completed in three years on a part-time schedule of two classes a semester. Core courses include basic statistics, research methods and a current issues or trends course. Specialized courses include micronutrients in human nutrition, entrepreneurship theory and practice and advanced nutrition.
