Monroe County Community College’s registered nurse program is offered online and leads students who are licensed practical nurses (LPNs) to earn an associate of applied science degree and prepare to become registered nurses (RNs). The student workload is heavy, with frequent deadlines for completing assignments. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has an online program for registered nurses and leads to the completion of a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Students may enter the program in January, May or August and complete all of the nursing courses online. One- and two-year options are available; students on a full-time schedule will complete the program in one calendar year, while part-time students finish in two years. Courses include conceptual bases of professional nursing practice, improving nursing practice, contemporary issues in nursing practice and alternative paradigms for nursing practice.

The University of Wisconsin at Green Bay offers an online completion program that is designed for registered nurses who wish to obtain their bachelor’s degree. In order for students to participate, they must already be registered nurses. Within this program, students choose from three track options: administration, education and nurse practitioner. This is a strong foundational program for students who wish to pursue a doctoral degree.
