Cedar Valley College
Cedar Valley College, located in Lancaster, Texas, provides a distance learning program that allows students to earn an Associates of Applied Science (AAS) in veterinary technology. The program is fully accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and offers the chance for students to learn all aspects of veterinary technician training, including surgical assisting. San Juan College's distance learning veterinary technician program is located in Farmington, New Mexico. The public community college's course of study is designed to allow students to obtain an AAS in veterinary technology without ever setting foot on campus. The program, which is fully accredited by the AVMA, works on a semester system and divides coursework up into tiers. Students in tiers two through four must find an off-campus clinical instruction site and a licensed veterinarian or technician to act as a preceptor to oversee hands-on learning. As of 2010, San Juan College requires 75 credit hours and 600 off-campus clinical instruction hours to graduation. Students are immersed in all aspects of veterinary technician training, including surgical assisting and anesthesiology.

St. Petersburg College, located in St. Petersburg, Florida is a distance learning veterinary technician program fully accredited by the AVMA. The public community college operates on a semester system and offers an AAS in veterinary technology. Students can complete the program from any location, but must be working 20 hours a week in a veterinary hospital to meet the requirements set forth by the college. St. Petersburg College requires 73 credit hours and 256 clinical hours for graduation as of 2010. Students are exposed to all aspects of veterinary technician training, including surgical assisting and post-operative nursing care.
