Ultrasound & Sonography Online Schools

Students interested in the field of sonography, often referred to as ultrasound, can choose between a number of specialties. Technicians are needed in the areas of vascular, neurology and breast imaging. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, job prospects for the field are promising through 2018. While academic programs require a clinical rotation, some schools offer distance learning for the required course work.

While students complete the courses via distance education, they are able to complete the clinical portion of the program in their own community. A clinical coordinator works with each student to set up an acceptable clinical rotation.

Mountain State University accepts 20 students into its programs twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. Prerequisites required before entering the program include course work in psychology, physics and college algebra.
