The Missionary Church founded Bethel College in 1947 in Mishawaka, a suburban area 90 miles east of Chicago, Illinois. U.S. News and World Report ranked the school 20th among all baccalaureate colleges in the Midwestern United States in 2010. The university offers a Bachelor of Science in pre-medicine, which requires coursework in organic and general chemistry, zoology, calculus, cell biology, physics, psychology, sociology, logic, probability and statistics. All students must also complete courses in Old and New Testament biblical studies, two semesters of a foreign language and a course in Christian faith. The college provides opportunities for students to engage in nontraditional educational experience, such as study abroad in countries like Russia, China, Ecuador, New Zealand, Jamaica and Australia.

Home to less than 1,000 students, Goshen College is a private institution affiliated with the Mennonite Church USA in Goshen, a rural area 120 miles east of Chicago, Illinois. The college's pre-medicine program boasts an 82-percent medical school acceptance rate among its graduates from 1999 to 2009. Students in the program are required to take classes in chemistry, biology, expository writing, calculus, foreign languages, genetics and physics, as well as courses in Bible, religion and philosophy. All students must complete one term on social service projects and these are typically performed overseas in China, Indonesia, Germany, the Ivory Coast and the Dominican Republic.

Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne is a public institution with more than 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The university's pre-medicine program requires students to pursue a degree in biology or chemistry and pairs them with an individual pre-professional counselor. Together, the student and her adviser plan the student's progression through the university, selecting courses in sciences and mathematics to ensure that students qualify for admission to medical schools. The adviser also guides the student through taking the MCAT medical school admission examination and applying to medical schools. Students have the opportunity to participate in internships and study-abroad programs while at the university.
