The University of California-San Francisco School of Dentistry has been imparting dental education since 1881. The school offers a full-time, 36-month postgraduate program in pediatric dentistry, which meets the educational requirements of the American Board of Pediatric Dentists. The program opens to five dentists every year. Admission requirements include a doctor of dental surgery, doctor of dental medicine or an equivalent degree and test scores of Graduate Record Examinations and National Board exams. Foreign applicants whose native language is not English must complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language.

Located in Dallas, Texas, Baylor College of Dentistry is an accredited institution that has offered dental education since 1905. It hosts a pediatric dentistry residency program, which leads to a 24-month certificate degree or a 27-month master's degree. The curriculum focuses on hospital dentistry, periodontics, orthodontics, child development, research design, anomalies, immunology and radiology. In both programs, students have access to affiliated clinics and hospitals for clinical rotations. The University of Nebraska Medical Center offers an accredited 24-month certificate program in pediatric dentistry. It prepares students for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry certification exam. To apply, students must have a professional degree from an American Dental Association-accredited dental college. As of 2010, the university does not accept foreign students for the program. The university makes admission decisions based on grade point average, National Board examination scores, recommendations and experiences. Along with instructional training, students receive clinical experience, treat orthodontic patients under the supervision of orthodontists, take care of disabled children and participate in a cleft-palate team. Upon successful completion, students receive a Certificate of Specialization in Pediatric Dentistry.
